Paid Time Off / Year
- 21 days of Vacation + up to 7 days for CME. (If attending a medical meeting)
- Six days over Christmas or New Year's Eve
(Holiday Break).

Academic Funds
In lieu of CME and book funds PL-1 residents
receive Pocket Personal Computers (currently,
Dell models) with software additions, including
e-books (Redbook, Pediatric 5 Minute Consult,
Harriet Lane, Pediatric Drug Handbook, Archimedes),
and Internet access capabilities. In addition,
certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support
and Neonatal Advanced Life Support is arranged
at no cost to the incoming resident. PL-1s are
also given a copy of the Med Study Board Review books.
Continuing Medical Education
- During the PL-2 and PL-3 years residents may receive up to $1500
for approved CME activities.
* Additional funds may be available for residents who present at national meetings.
Book Funds
- PL-2 / 3: $ 200.00 annually
Meals and Nutrition
All residents while on call are given meal cards
to offset the cost of meals purchased in the
hospital cafeteria.
In addition, the resident refrigerator is stocked
daily with cold sandwiches, potato chips, sodas,
etc for residents working overnight.
Lunch is provided at the majority of noon conferences.
Medical Insurance
1-½ times base pay life insurance and
professional malpractice insurance sponsored
by the University.
Medical insurance coverage is provided to residents
at no cost. Medical insurance coverage for dependents
is available at an additional cost.
Resident Lounge
This is a private pediatric lounge. Residents use
this area to relax, eat, watch T.V. and surf
the web. In addition,there is a quiet library area.
Parking
Garage parking is provided free to
Pediatric residents. A reserved parking spot is available for a monthly fee of $23.25
Uniforms
Two embroidered lab coats are provided to incoming
interns.
Scrubs are provided by the hospital while on
call.
Retreats / Orientation
- Seven day intern orientation.
- Two day intern retreat, including ropes course.
- One day E.D. orientation.
Interview Expense Reimbursement
Accommodations
at a nearby hotel will be arranged at the
department's expense. Candidates are invited to dinner by our residents on the
night prior to interviews.
