The deadline for receipt of nominations is October 1st, 2008.
The ideal candidate for the Patricia Price Browne Prize would:
Have made an outstanding contribution through active service
in medical ethics activities, by serving on an ethics
committee or commission, or by improving the profession’s
effectiveness in upholding its ethical standards through advocacy
of policies, provision or organization of services.
- Have distinguished himself/herself as a leader in ethics to
merit nomination by a peer
- Be a recognized role model for addressing ethical issues
- Be involved in research and medical care
- Be innovative, creative and committed
to fundamentally addressing ethical issues in healthcare.
Application Process
Candidates must be nominated by a peer. Qualified candidates may be physicians, nurses, research scientists
or anyone in the medical or professional ethics fields who demonstrates the highest professional
standards in addressing ethical issues relating to healthcare.
Nominators must complete the Patricia Price Browne Prize
The nomination packet should include:
- Candidate’s curriculum vitae, including bibliography
- Statement of evidence in justification of the nomination
- Up to 5 letters of support/nomination addressed to the Patricia
Price Browne Prize Jury

October 1st, 2008 – Applications must be received by the Prize
Committee by close of business.
October 2008 – The Prize Committee meets and selects a winner. All applicants are notified by mail of their status.
Spring 2009 – The winner is honored at OUHSC during a visit.
