  Diabetes Clinical Services Overview

OU Children's Diabetes Center includes a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals within the Section of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology. The section team members strive to fulfill all areas of the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, including patient care, teaching and research. Most members of the section participate in clinical activities, work on individual research projects and provide education to residents and students from various disciplines. Our mission is to provide superior family centered pediatric diabetes services, incorporating the most recent medical treatments developed through relevant clinical research and teaching. The target population for OU Children's Diabetes Center is includes all children, primarily within the state of Oklahoma, under the age of 19 with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and their families. We also care for patients with cystic fibrosis related diabetes of any age. In addition to the care provided at OU Children's Diabetes Center, the section also provides comprehensive services to Native American children through partnerships with several tribes across the state of Oklahoma.

Our program is accessed through referrals from healthcare providers throughout the state. Newly diagnosed patients are referred to our center the day of diagnosis.
